We go to this bar where we are meeting a few people for a birthday party. I’m having fun, but I notice that it’s a different kind of fun. I wasn’t having fun because I was checking out guys (my man was at home, I am allowed to look as long as I don’t touch), nor was it because I had already downed two Malibu pineapple drinks, I was having fun because I was enjoying the game.</p>

Pick Up Artists, or just a great or interesting pick up lines. Yup, the night began off to a great start!
“Ladies, I have a question, I have a friend who’s gay……..”

This was maybe 15 minutes after we got to the bar. I was with two of my friends and a couple of guys came over and asked “Ladies, I need your help. I have this friend who is gay and wants to give me a man purse for my birthday, how do I say no to a man purse without hurting his feelings?”
My first thought…this guy is claiming he is not gay while holding on to this other guy, whom I assumed was suppose to be the wing man. This wing man wasn’t really helping he kept asking about my ear rings. (If not gay, maybe metro sexual?
Who knows, but they were given points for originality even though it hurt them at the end. These poor guys were trying to hard! They were not playing it cool. The line sounded to rehearsed and the wing man was very nervous. The guys were cute but had no confidence what’s so ever. Their main objective was to make it known that they were not gay. It of course backfired because that was the first thing that we thought since that’s all they talked about. The cute guys left after I told them, that if they were gay, they would make a cute couple.
If these guys had the confidence, they would have laughed at my remark and followed it up with some smart remarks. We got nothing from them. Guys! Don’t ever walk away from a situation like that! That cute guy could have easily said “Yeah, it’s hard being me when not only girls are after me, but their boyfriends try to hook up with me too!” That would have been a great come back for them, and I know my friends and I would have enjoyed talking to them more.
If they were seen as just having fun, comfortable with their environment, or even just doing a low key magic trick , they would have had a lot of girls attention. Like I said these guys were cute but they lacked confidence.
Imagine what fun it would have been, for my friends and I to see them at the bar performing some magic. The only way it would have worked of course is if they played it cool and not do the magic as a routine. Not having confidence shows and you can have the best pick up line or the best magic trick, but at the end, it’s your personality that has to shine through.

I find that often you can “spot” pickup artists without them even using a canned line or opener. You just “feel” them. The way they have an uncertain or “fake confident” energy around them. The way sometimes they just seem too good (combined with other hints, of course). You often can’t logically put your finger on it, but you know. And as you continue to talk with the person he says something that confirms your suspicions.
I’ve been studying the community for over two years, but while I may have gotten better at “spotting” PUAs (or wannabe PUAs) as I learned more, it wasn’t really the new knowledge of technical routines or anything like that which triggers this feeling. It’s just the way the person moves and acts and the energy he gives off that “outs” him.
Of course, I’m sure there are guys who are so skilled and whose inner game is so strong that we wouldn’t be able to tell. Although most aren’t on this level.
